On this day in history, 45 years ago today, Apollo 11 made the most import discovery of the 20th century. They spent 4 days flying through space to land on the moon only to discover the pale blue dot we call home. They realized how small we are, how lucky we are, and how silly we are for our wars, aggresion, and hate. When Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong first set foot in the Sea of Tranquility, Im sure it was powerful enough to make the biggest man cry. They discovered us, they discovered home, they discovered Earth. Everything that are, will be, and have been, all on a little small planet in the vast ocean of rock, radiation, and gas. I am sad that I was never alive to see it, but Im more depressed over the fact that most people dont take a minute and think about what happened that day. No one tries to imgaine what it was like. On that day, the entire world was watching. People lined the streets just to watch Apollo 11 launch. Im glad my grandfather forced my own father to wake up and watch the lunar landing with him, because thats exactly what Id do to my children. Just please, take a minute out of your day and imagine what it was like. Imagine what the Earth looked like, how it felt up there on the moon, and how it sounded. It will make all your problems a little silly. I promise you.
