On this day in music history: December 18, 1967 - Wild Honey, the thirteenth studio album by The Beach Boys is released. Produced by The Beach Boys, it is recorded at Wally Heider Studios in Hollywood, CA and Brian Wilsons Home Studio in Los Angeles, CA from September 26 - November 15, 1967. Brian Wilson will continue to write for material for the band, but will be less active in the studio following the abandonment of the Smile album earlier in the year. It will spin off a hit single in the Carl Wilson sung Darlin (written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love) (#19 Pop). The track Here Comes The Night will be re-recorded by the band in the late 70s as a disco song . The album will also be the last Beach Boys album to be released in both mono and stereo (being their first album to receive a true stereo mix (instead of Duophonic re-channeled stereo) since their Christmas album in 1964. Wild Honey will peak at number twenty four on the Billboard Top 200.
