On this day in music history: January 5, 1980 - On The Radio - Greatest Hits - Volumes I & II by Donna Summer hits #1 on the Billboard Top 200 for 1 week. Produced by Giorgio Moroder, Pete Bellotte, Bob Esty, and Gary Klein, it is recorded at Musicland Studios in Munich,.Germany, Rusk Sound Studios in Hollywood, CA and Village Recorders in Los Angeles, CA from May 1975 - August 1979. The sixteen track double LP set features Summers hit singles released between 1975 and 1979 as well as two new tracks (No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) w/ Barbra Streisand (#1 Pop), and the title track (#5 Pop) ). The majority of the tracks have been remixed and edited to fit the large number of songs onto the album. Many of the tracks are segued into each other for continuous play on each side. It will also come packaged with a poster of the album cover artwork. It will be Summers final release on Casablanca before she leaves the label. On The Radio - Greatest Hits - Volumes I & II is certified 2x Platinum in the US by the RIAA.
