On this day in music history: September 27, 1964 - The Beach Boys make their national television debut on the Ed Sullivan Show performing their recent number one single I Get Around and Wendy. Originally aired live on CBS (east coast broadcast only), the show will be seen by over fifty million people. It will be the first of only two appearances that the band will make on the legendary Sunday night variety show. The Beach Boys will appear on the show again four years later on October 13, 1968, performing Do It Again and Good Vibrations.
