On this day that I can not celebrate with the innocence I had so - TopicsExpress

On this day that I can not celebrate with the innocence I had so briefly as a child, because I saw too much, too early, I instead offer these thoughts on what to do about imperialism. I agree with Christopher Alan Driscolls last two comments. [He praised RT TV for exposing U.S. imperialism. ] I still assert that RT as a whole avoids examining (critiquing) Russia to the extent that many of its shows cover and dissect aspects of U.S. society and politics. I made this distinction because I agree with Christopher, that US imperialism is both the far worse threat and the greater responsibility of us Americans. Fighting imperialism can not be done by perfect beings. Abby Martin [Breaking The Set on RT TV] is just such an imperfect, but wonderfully talented and compassionate fighter. So is Bill Blum [Journalist] and so too are so many now gone. On this historic day, I urge you to not only read the brilliant July 4th speech by Frederick Douglass, but to try to imagine if you had been him that day, trying to move a churchfull of basically good, but still timid mostly pacifistic white christians to action, while the murderous mobs howled for your blood outside? Whould you have been able to say it as well, as bravely? Could you say it and mean it today? I hope so. redandgreen.org/speech.htm redandgreen.org/MPG3/4th-jly.mp3
