On this day that commemorates the birth of a true champion of non violence, civil rights and equality, lets all reflect on the fact that one of the turning points of the civil rights movement was the defiant act of Rosa Parks. This was a woman who had defied the law and by doing so ignited nationwide support and compassion for the plight of the negro . She did this by taking a seat in the front of a jim crow bus, an act that was truly unheard of in the 1950s and an act that truly enraged the the white establishment. Now please explain to me, fifty years later, now that blood sweat and tears have been spilled to give people of color the right to sit anywhere on a bus. Why do we now, almost invariably go straight to the back of the bus. (Its because we can.) Peace to everyone, and lets all remember that the rights and freedoms we take for granted now, were paid for by the blood and sacrifices of those who preceded us. Think about That!
