On this day we remember all the animals that gave and continue to - TopicsExpress

On this day we remember all the animals that gave and continue to give their lives in war and areas of conflict. One of the letters, in this book dated 11th November 1929, is addressed to Brightie mentioning it was Remembrance Day and Custard had taken sixpence from her money-box to buy a poppy. She talks about old Alice probably remembering the Great War because she was an old horse and was the Sergeant Majors charger. Alice goes on to tell Custard that the war isnt all glory and is more mud than anything. The last paragraph of this letter touches the heart for it says that Custard hoped that if there was another fight, she would want to be part of it to be awarded as many medals as Alice had got. And if Custard wasnt to return then she hoped the children would buy a poppy in remembrance. warmule.org/blog/confessions-custard-military-mule
