On this our nations birthday, may each of us pause to recall the price of freedom. So many times we as Americans become distracted, and lose sight of the sacrifices made to ensure our way of life. While I understand Im outspoken and passionate in my posts, its because of my love of this country. Our independence was gained by the blood of brave men and women standing against tyranny and oppression. It angers me when individuals hail sports athletes as heroes, yet cannot even acknowledge a veterans presence. As the sacrifices made become more of a distant memory, we risk repeating the mistakes of the past. Today as all of you celebrate, understand this is so much more than an extended weekend filled with beer and friends. Today marks the birth of this great nation. As I stated, let us recount those who fought and laid-down their lives to ensure we would not live under an oppressive government. May all of you be safe, in the company of those you love and be proud to be an American. God bless this nation and its people.
