On this very same day 2 years ago I left home 5am to make my hour drive to work. Making the decision to take my Ram 1500 to work instead of my colbolt, little did I know this was a big factor that had a part of being able to walk away with less injuries.....The drive there was snowy as 26 and 68 was always in the winter.I arrived at work safely and changed and saved lifes during My 12 hour shift, 7:30pm came and I was on my way. My mom called me half way home, as always I would put it on speaker and place it on my center consul. The roads still snow covered, nothing that ram couldnt handle nor my car. The DOT had the roads scrapped and treated to the best of ability. At 9:06pm I was turning on the bruceton mill exit off of 68, at 9:10 I was entering Into the town of brandonville. Thats when things changed around the turn coming up the hill turn was a driver with a HHR. My mom still on speaker phone heard what could of been the last words from me. The driver was half way in my lane lost control of the car, me I had no where to go except the bank to get away from the biggest part of the head on collision. Every thought and my life flashing right Infront of me all I could do is scream and pray At the end of the collision I opened my eyes to make sure I had every body part intact and there was no major bleeding injuries. Panicking I gotta out the truck to fall down the hill to a man standing Infront of me freaking out, trying to wipe the blood from my head (due to busting it off the seat belt mount) getting up turning back looking at the truck to see my whole front end ruined and the torno cover on the bed ripped. Emergency personal toned out, looked for my phone that landed all the way in the back seat with the screen cracked and 10 missed calls from my mom, calling her explaining what happen.....this night was leading to the biggest physical change. LITTLE did I know....... I was just hit head on by a DUI driver ......The truck having $8,000+ damage to it and a er visit with scans X-rays and monitoring, and c-spine precaution for the next 9 hours leading to the findings of 3 bulging disks and a l5 s1 compression. The treatment of a long 10 months of physical therapy and many nerve conduction Tests....many changes from daily living to career change happend. The What IF question played multiple times..... If I would of drove my car that morning I mpr then likely wouldnt be here on earth....and what if this would of been a mother and children in the car. What if I would of stopped somewhere on my way home...... The moral of this is when you decided to be stupid you dont know how much you can change someones life by drinking and driving. As the holidays approach I can not stress the fact of having a DD while drinking.... Im still alive that Im thankful for its not the DUI driver living with the pain its me, think about the fact that you may actually kill someone a mother a father grandparents a simply Innocent person there life and many others are changed and effected.... So please if you plan to party HAVE a DD this holiday even if you have to call me Ill take you home!!!
