On trees and progress: Was an observer in this matter till now. In all honesty, this one is difficult. First time I saw the trees cut in SM, the thing that came to mind was, it was bound to happen. Not a lawyer or anything but Im just speculating that those who have been paid have been paid. You know, the architects, engineers both on the structure and geodetic, and you know, some more people like judges and such but I dont really know anything about that. Now the second thing that came out was that there were different models that were shown to those who defended the one hundred and eighty two trees from that that was shown to the media. That SM had told only 10 trees would be cut but 60 have been felled. I dont know, I wasnt there during the meetings. Point is, where must the line not to be crossed? Some say its a solution to traffic, but then would entice more people to use their cars therefore more pollution. Some say we need more jobs and it would help though that would invite more people into our already overpopulated city. Others that the scale model looks awesome and would be good for tourists but then trees will be more beautiful than any other structure. There are also those who think that the central business district should be a reflection of each city and by having less trees, do we still call ourselves the city of pines. Where is the line drawn... Where, if ever there were, would we find compromise...
