Once a king lost his thumb while practicing with a sword. When his minister came to know about it, he said, My Lord, everything is for our good only The king, with all his ego hurt, sent the minister to prison for what he said instead of sympathizing with the king. After a few days later, the king ventured out into the jungles for hunting, got detached from his troupe, lost his way and was caught by the tribals who were about to perform a human sacrifice to their Godess. The tribals felt jubilated at the catch of a beautiful man for sacrifice. He was bathed put on suitable robes and was taken to the alter of the deity for sacrifice. The chief priest came and when he checked the sacrificial offering, he found that the man was without a thumb and found him to be unfit for sacrifice as he was not a complete man. He ordered the king to be left alone. The king went back to his kingdom and called the minister, apologized profusely and just short of seeking pardon, he gifted him with lot of wealth. As the king said, I regret having imprisoned you without any reason, the minister said My Lord, that was also for my good only Puzzled, the King asked him how? the minister said, My Lord, if you had not prisoned me, I would have been with you on the hunting mission, and finding me fit for sacrifice, the tribals would have sacrificed me and left you alone! Therefore, what ever happens to us, is for our benefit only and we should always look it that way only. The king got wiser from that day.
