Once again Barenaked Ladies, Alison Krauss, U2, Zooey Deschanel, Amy Grant, Diana Krall, Sara Bareilles, Frank Sinatra, Blind Boys of Alabama, John Michael Talbot, and Nat King Cole made the cut and are on Shiny Baby in a Manger 2014, my eclectic and mighty nice Christmas mix. I used to create CDs of my favorite Christmas music to share with friends but now theres too many songs for a CD, and these days not everyone has a CD player. The list gets longer (and better) every year: songs and performances that no longer hold my attention get the hook and theres always at least one new song or version that blows me away. Last year that was Bright Morning Stars Are Shining by The Wailin Jennys. This year that song is Patty Griffins Mary. Do check out my mix if only for these two performances. My favorite of them all has become Alison Krauss and Yo-Yos version of The Wexford Carol. The easiest way for me to share my list with you is via Spotify as its the music sharing platform that has the most members and its ethical (all artists receive residuals).
