Once again Stults pitched good enough to win, and once again the Padres scored 1 run or less in support of him, and fell to the Giants and Peavy 3-1. It was the 18th time this season that Stults had received 1 run or less while on the mound, as they could not figure out the former Padre facing them on the hill. It wasnt Peavy of his glory padres days firing 94 MPH with a vicious slider, but he located his sinker good enough to hold the Pads to one run that crossed in the 5th on a Grandal Sac-fly set up with a Venable 1B, and Spangenberug 2B. Stults allowed a run in the first and that was it for 7 innings. The 1-1 tie was broken in the 8th on a 2-out, 2-run single by Crawford…ball game. Frustrating game for Stutls, that was symbolic of his season in many ways for a guy who pitched a heck of a lot better than his W-L record would indicate. Pads will try to end the 2014 campaign on a winning note with Erlin going against Heston.
