Once again a new oil spill has put our nation’s water supplies - TopicsExpress

Once again a new oil spill has put our nation’s water supplies and the health and safety of our children in jeopardy. Last night approximately 3,500 gallons of diesel fuel was released into the Ohio River from Duke Energy’s Beckjord power plant. The Greater Cincinnati Waterworks and the Northern Kentucky Water District each closed drinking water intakes on the Ohio River. Duke Energy… not those SOBs again, when will they learn? When will we as a nation learn…enough is enough already. Diesel Fuel, Coal Ash, Chrome-6, Radiation; where does it stop? Twenty-four hour operations are underway to contain and clean up oil along a 12 mile stretch of the Ohio River immediately upstream from Cincinnati. The United Stares Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Coast Guard and Ohio Environmental Protection Agency quickly mobilized and are taking a series of steps to minimize the damage this spill does to the Ohio River and surrounding communities. Collectively they have set up a unified command center in Pierce Township. Under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, United Stares Environmental Protection Agency has the responsibility for inland oil spills… but because it is Duke Energy watch out… the United Stares Environmental Protection Agency will likely buckle to “Political Pressure”!!! Be Vigilant Be United
