Once again in todays Sunday rag we are being fed a story about another prison officer who has supposedly fallen foul of the law, putting their job at risk. The female high ranking officer faces disciplinary procedures and has been suspended whilst her husband another senior officer defends her citing the change as her out of character behaviour. Considering that this story is about a female officer we question why this gutter rag has used a photo of a member of the Orange Order rather than a photo of the lady herself? It seems to us that the Prison Service only pick and choose who they discipline yet according to information that we have received others have who have committed more serious breaches of the law have been left alone. Why has a governor in Maghaberry who has been through the courts six times on drink driving charges not been through the same disciplinary procedures? . Why has a senior warder at Maghaberry who has been through the courts on numerous occasions on charges of fraud not been through the same disciplinary procedures? . We are aware of others who have committed offences against the law but like those above have been treated favourably, so why is there rules for some and different rules for others?, only the head of the Prison Service can answer that question.
