Once again my disgust at the LNP, this time over ethanol, knows no - TopicsExpress

Once again my disgust at the LNP, this time over ethanol, knows no bounds. Heres my press release from today: Hypocrisy, who’s your Daddy? The LNP. 23 January 2015: KAP Leader and Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter today labelled the LNP ‘the Daddy of all hypocrisies” over their failure to support the introduction of an ethanol mandate for Queensland petrol, after the LNP’s rejection of a Bill put into Parliament by KAP State Members which was identical to that put up by the LNP in 2010. “The Daddy of all hypocrisies is the LNP. When in opposition, they moved in Parliament and voted in Parliament to introduce ethanol. Having then secured the people’s vote in Dalby and other sugar cane areas, in Government they refused to allow the legislation moved by the KAP into the house to be debated, let alone voted upon,” Mr Katter said. “Robbie Katter sits on the committee that has considered the legislation. The decision of the committee, which is dominated by the LNP, has been that it will not be passed. “So what it says about the LNP is that, when you need votes from sugar and grain areas – you just go out and lie to them. “But when you have the power to deliver – you of course are controlled by your masters. They are the puppets of the oil and gas companies, Coles and Woolworths.” Mr Katter has pointed to Australia’s fuel security, the economic prosperity of our sugar cane farmers and public health as strong drivers for the introduction of an ethanol mandate. “Outside of the Middle Eastern oil producing countries, Australia is the only country on earth without any biofuels in their petrol,” Mr Katter said. “Brazilian farmers, with most of their cane going into an ethanol stream, receive $38 per tonne for cane. Australian farmers, without any ethanol stream to feed into, receive only $31 per tonne for cane. “The difference is that they are making a profit and we are running at a loss. Whether you’re big or small you simply cannot produce for $31 per tonne and survive in the long run. There’ll always be the floods, the diseases, the cyclones. “The reason that China, India, Japan, Europe, North America and the South Americas all have ethanol is because motor vehicle emissions kill you. If you move from rural Australia to Sydney your chances of dying of heart or lung disease doubles on account of the motor vehicle emissions. Mr Katter said that in 2002 Australia was importing virtually no petrol, approximately $1,000 million worth per year. Today, approximately $25,000 million is sent to the Middle East to buy oil. “Wouldn’t the slightest scintilla of intelligence or love of your country dictate that the $25,000 million should be directed into rural Australia, which is almost everywhere dying an agonising economic death? “The ALP is absolutely identical in their policies, but without the hypocrisy of the LNP. “Those who vote for them support the Middle East with $25,000 million of Australia’s hard earned money. Those that support the KAP declare that our country is not going to be run in the foreign, corporate interest. We love our country and it will be run for the benefit of our fellow Australians and particularly, our rural fellow Australians,” Mr Katter said.
