Once again my friend Brandi Gregory is in need of help or advice. Youll recall she narrowly avoided being out on the street—armless and legless in her failing power chair—when she had the good fortune of meeting up with a young woman, a student, who was able to use the money she raised on Fundly to get a house. Unfortunately, the young lady has moved back in with her mother leaving Brandi holding the bag. Her greatest concern is that the utilities were in the young womans name—her ex had run up a big utility bill and ruined her credit—and she has no way to get them in her own name. (Im grateful I had good luck with housemates in my college years.) So, even though she has a roof over her head, that still might not saving her from freezing. I know many of you are probably tired of hearing of Brandis woes—and there are legions of others out there in desperate straits as well, I know—but any suggestions are welcome. If nothing else, this helps to point up how very little there is in the way of safety net, if even a woman born with no arms or legs is left dangling in the wind. BTW, thanks again to all who contributed to her Fundly account. She had me say thanks for her, as she has had no reliable internet connection since she went to the hospital last summer.
