Once again, time to slowly start to wind down the days battles, in - TopicsExpress

Once again, time to slowly start to wind down the days battles, in the neverending Cold Civil War, and hope for a little bit of sleep and peace in the night, before daybreak, when the hostilities continue, but in addition to the song, tonight, the Sarge would like to share a short story. You know, this song right here, similar to Puff the Magic Dragon, are songs I like to say that I have a love/hate, relationship with. The reason being, like with this particular one, and like Puff the Magic Dragon, are songs that I used to play for my only son, Shawn, when he was a baby, toddler, and young child, as I raised him in between my comings and goings, overseas. I would remember I would put them on, and as they played, how I would slowly be putting him to sleep, caressing his head softly, thinking to myself, how I would dread the day, that comes, like the day that comes as sung about here, in this song, as well as others, like again, Puff the Magic Dragon. Dreading the day that my child, my only son, would one day become a man. While of course I am very proud of my only son and all that he has done to help others, and generously continues to do so, as well as all that he has accomplished overall up to now, in his college days, still when I hear these songs, (like I did this one tonight by chance on the radio) I cannot help but feel sad, and wonder about whys, and what ifs, if I couldve done this better, or that better. Anyways, this I guess, is part of the reason, amongst other many private reasons, (having to do with deaths of friends) why I am not really a holiday person, except those times of playing the part, (and I did it well) when Shawn was a child growing up, and I of course, turned off, so he could have a very Merry Christmas, and wonderful New Year. That is all. Carry on. https://youtube/watch?v=bSwL9deXNW8
