Once again, we witnessed how fragile life is. On the way home from the eye dr, Kayli was gasping for her breaths, and turned blue/purple! Her oxygen saturations were down to 44% (normal is 96-100%)! We pulled over to the side of the road, pulled off her HME (humidification device), turned the oxygen all the way up. Kaylis nurse was grabbing the Ambu bag, and Mommy stuck a suction catheter down her throat. That jarred a plug (thick secretion/mucus), and Kayli began to breathe again! Just as her oxygen saturations came back up, she started struggling to breath again! Her sats dropped back down into the 70s! Mommy put the catheter down her throat again, and jarred another plug loose. Kayli was exhausted and scared. Unfortunately, Niko (Kaylis youngest brother) was also in the van, and saw it all happen. When debriefing Niko, he took everything with ease, stating, Shes done it before Mom. Shes ok. He must see her as invincible, at this point, with all the times hes seen Kayli survive through typically fatal tragedies.
