Once however my brother got himself into a terrible predicament. - TopicsExpress

Once however my brother got himself into a terrible predicament. He had been out for a walk and came across an execution victim whose corpse had been hung upside down from a lamppost. This was done to send a message of fear to others in the city. My brother took out his camera and took a quick picture. Taliban soldiers must have seen him do this because they grabbed him and beat him and then took him to the police station. After questioning him they went with him to a photo shop to get his negatives developed. While the photographs were being developed my brother was detained with two other men who had also been caught taking pictures. After a long wait the Taliban men brought out some pictures and took my brother aside to question him first. Are these your photos?, they demanded. They werent. They were pictures from someones wedding. But my brother said yes they were his photos. The Taliban hit him a few more times for good measure but then let him go. Once he got safely away though, my brother started to worry about his photograph and what might happen to the other men if they were accused of taking it. So he stayed outside to see what would happen. Fortunately, the other men were let go as well. We later learned that the photo shop owner had tricked the Taliban by giving them the wrong pictures. He knew that if the Taliban had seen the photo of the hangings they would do the same thing to my brother. It was another example of the quiet resistance of people who were risking their lives to rescue their fellow countrymen. Raising My Voice
