Once in a while, during popular weekly music shows of the past, - TopicsExpress

Once in a while, during popular weekly music shows of the past, unusual things happen. This clip comes from the Top Of The Pops circa 1991. Top Of The Pops was essentially the British version of American Bandstand. The general rule for both shows was that singers/bands would lip-synch their performances. TOTP would revise these rules at times and allow live vocals over pre-recorded instrumental tracks. That was the case for this gem. Kurt Cobain and the boys perform their megahit, Smells Like Teen Spirit, without much bother to pretend they were actually playing their instruments aside from Dave Grohls usual bashing of the drums. Cobains vocals are the focal point here as he channels his inner Morrissey to give the song a very different slant. Listen to this tune as youve probably never heard it before.
