Once the experience of falling in love has run its natural course - TopicsExpress

Once the experience of falling in love has run its natural course - the average in-love experience last two years; we will return to the world of reality and begin to assert ourselves. He will express His desires which will be different from hers. Some couples believe that the end of the in love experience would either result in a life of misery or they should opt out; however research has shown that there is a third and better alternative. We can recognize the in love experience for what it is - a temporary emotional high - and now pursue real love with our spouse. (Gary Chapman). The Bible gives the definition of love: and we know real love to be a sacrificial kind of love. Gary Chapman describes the process as being able to unite reason and emotion; a love that involves the act of the will and requires discipline, recognizing the need for personal growth. He states that our primary need is not to fall in love but to genuinely love each other and to know a love that grows out of reason and choice. I would love to add that as representatives of Christ, we should choose to love with the love of God, a sacrificial love so that the love experience could be one in which the act of God loving the church is demonstrated in the marriage life. - Living Beyond the Daily Grind, Angel Oliveras, Teona de Villa-Clariz, Senceria Reese Fowlkes, Reuben Fowlkes, Casandra Cook.
