Once upon a time, an editor at a mid-sized publishing house - TopicsExpress

Once upon a time, an editor at a mid-sized publishing house accepted manuscripts from a whole bunch of newbie authors. She set up a yahoo loop, where all these newbies could as questions, support each other, kvetch about life, or just not feel lonely. Basically, it became our support structure as we each worked in our solitary writers caves. We were all over the world, so whenever you were writing, someone was usually online to say, good going, or Im sorry your day job sucks. It helped us all. Eventually, as most things do, the Frogs Pond went away. Some went on to New York Times lists, others decided writing wasnt really their thing, and probably most of us are still struggling along somewhere in between. In speaking to other veterans, though, Ive discovered Im not the only one who misses it. So were bringing it back. Sort of. This time it will be a facebook group, and it wont be folks with a common publisher or editor. The occasional freelance editor is welcome, but you dont get to ask for their services for free. Its not a promo venue, a street team, or a critique group. What it is is a virtual water cooler. A place to get the feeling that were all in this together. We might brainstorm, do sprints, or jumpstarts, or grouse about our kids. Well cheer each others victories and commiserate when needed. If youre interested, give me a shout. This will be a closed group, but you can feel free to invite other like-minded writers.
