One Direction win big at the MTV Europe Music Awards! One Direction were the big Winners last night winning 3 EMAs! All 4 band members except Zayn Malik accepted on a pre-recorded video for best live, best pop and biggest fans Awards but were beaten to worldwide act by Chinas Bibi Zhou. Ariana Grande, Katy Perry and 5 Seconds of Summer won two awards each. Grande won best female artist over Beyoncé, Katy Perrry, and Nicki and also took the best song prize for Problem. The 21-year-old performed her song Break Free from a flying pod while wearing a white mini-dress. This is absolutely crazy, Grande said after her second win of the night. Nicki Minaj was the star of the show, hosting, performing and receiving the Award for Best Hip Hop Artist over Eminem and Drake but steering clear of controversy. She rapped about whiskey and shortbread and sang part of The Proclaimers Im Gonna Be (500 Miles). Enrique Iglesias won for Best World Stage. Beyoncé didnt appear as widely rumoured, nor did Katy Perry who was on tour in Australia and Calvin Harris had to pull out of opening the show after having a heart scare. There were also amazing performances from Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, Enrique Iglesias, U2, Royal Blood and Charli XCX. Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro performed with Miles Kennedy and Slash to close the show with an incredible cover of Ozzy Osbournes Crazy Train, who picked up the Global Icon Award. Best male went to Justin Bieber, who thanked MTV via a video clip, while Linkin Park who won in the rock category were also on tour. The MTV EMA 2014 winners: Best video: Katy Perry - Dark Horse ft.
