One Florida police officer that opposes Florida’s ballot initiative to legalize medical marijuana sent an email from his work account explaining how the medical provision would still be a violation of federal law. In sending the email, the officer himself violated a Florida law that prohibits sending emails about electoral politics from state governmental work accounts. Violating that law is a first-degree misdemeanor carrying up to a year in jail or a $1,000 fine.
