One German Bundeswehr soldier fights on the side of the pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine. His Bundeswehr comrades found this out via social media. An investigation against the paratrooper has began, he is considered as a deserter. The paratrooper is from Lower Saxony, Seedorf. He was initially on sick leave for two weeks and after he didnt appeared for service... With him his combat equipment is also missing ... At the moment combat troops of German Bundeswehr are preparing for eastern Ukraine. German paratroopers prepare in Seedorf by Bremen, they suppose to secure OSCE monitoring of ceasefire in the conflict area. Currently running discussion whether the Bundeswehr will be used in eastern Ukraine. Together with France, Germany made an offer to OSCE - a support of the planned monitoring mission at the Ukrainian-Russian border. Germany will also deploy drones.
