One Mega Canvas to Let Artists [Be] Ahoy! Painters, dancers, artists, story weavers, poets, photographers, filmmakers, musicians and the whole clan of art lovers… The Good Artists of Pune, GAP, have created a public art venture like no other… a dwelling for you dreamers exclusively for TODAY and TOMORROW. If we were to spot the happiest and whippiest corner of the city today, it has to be Hotel Shalimar near Sadhu Vaswani Chowk where non-conformism has created a new language… the unkempt walls of the dilapidated building are up and alive and waiting for all kinds of imaginative minds to render their visions and voice, into colors, pictures, music and whatever brings joy. When we walked in, the walls seemed delusional as walls, and seemed more like canvasses placed back to back! Artists can pick any corner that screams fun and freedom and go tripping with the pigments and brushes. These pigments are essentially natural derivatives and not synthetically generated. For those who have viewfinder embedded eyes, can capture the worn out corners the hotel building magically turning into one massive color palette. And yes! You can develop them here itself in the little dark rooms. Filmmakers can simply plug in their creations in the screening room. The open and empty corners are more than welcome to the echoes of any music form you wish to create. Talking of music, honestly, this was the first time we saw invisible music and so many artists tapping to it… so strangely engrossed like they have found home and they gotto dress ‘their’ corner. In attendance are artists, both established as well as aspiring, local as well as international, old as well as young (check out Anuj, 10, and his rainbowesque corner). You don’t need to be a maverick here… No one’s judgmental about the perfection of strokes and finishing of the result… and still you’ll still feel rewarded. At GAP, true work of art is the real leap of freedom. Everyone’s a ‘good artist’ here! Onlookers are welcome too. Don’t see The Good Artist Co[Lab] as a destination, its more like a artsy cruise you’d like to vacay with yourself and fellow like minded people. We must give it to Pune artist Shraddha Borawake, spearhead of GAP, and her team for bringing this one of a kind opportunity to city’s art aficionados to share, interact and experiment. You can browse through the itinerary on their page. Hop on now as it lasts only today and tomorrow… Address: Hotel Shalimar, Sadhu Vaswani Road, near Pune Railway Station
