One Minute Message 9/20/13 Devotional Thought: “Their clothes did not wear out, and their feet did not swell!” You would think they would be a happy bunch, right? In this prayer recorded in (Neh. 9:5b-36) the contemporaries of Nehemiah confess their sins and specifically in verses 19-21 they recount the blessings God poured out on them during their ancestors’ trek through the desert. Their confession is that even when they lacked nothing they complained about everything. That is an unfortunate human tendency that we can correct by thanking the Lord for providing us “our daily bread” (cf. Matt. 6:9-13). Devotional Text: Nehemiah 9:19-21 (NLT) 19 “But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night. 20 You sent your good Spirit to instruct them, and you did not stop giving them manna from heaven or water for their thirst. 21 For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing.
