One Month Update: As many of you have seen in my previous posts, Trey and I are having the time of our lives. The everyday ins and outs we go through on a daily basis can be so much more comical when you are the outsider looking in...for instances. We were speaking with someone who had been here much longer than us. We were discussing Indian people and how when we speak to them they bobble their head side to side. Did you know we do same thing we just nod back and forth. I had to laugh as I caught myself nodding as I agreed with him. So I ask, who is the bobble head? lol Crime is almost nonexistent. Parents still let their children play amongst themselves in front of supermarkets as their parents shop. You never see rude or loud teenagers in public places. Although their are cultural differences, it is so interesting to sit in a nice restaurant an have so many nationalities around me. A kind smile given is always a kind smile received in any language. Time. Well, time/schedules are somewhat based on the weather, moon, etc. The work week here starts on Sunday and ends on Thursday. Also, things seems to start a little later due to the heat. Many holidays are based on the moon cycle. Their main holiday starts July 19, Ramadan. It is a month long. Interesting fact: there is one camel for every 22 people in the UAE. They even have beauty contest in December for these lovely creatures, who have nasty spitting habits. Shopping: well this seems to be one of my favorite pass-times as I love my shoes. As soon as fashion hits the runways, it hits Dubai next. I can never get tired of the fashion and pretty people. Although it is very hot right now, I am told that the fall, winter and early spring is incredible. You learn to work with the heat and wear lots of deodorant:) I stay in the pool a lot or near the beaches. We miss our family and loved ones and hope they are able to visit soon to share in our adventure. Till my next report.... Cheers Jacque
