One Page Wonder 146 (Making Memories) Something strange - TopicsExpress

One Page Wonder 146 (Making Memories) Something strange happened earlier this week during a conversation with my son, Connor. He was doing an interview with me for a college project on how our DJ business, NightSound came to life. We discussed how it had evolved and changed over 24 years, and what makes me continue to turn up most Saturday nights with never ending enthusiasm. Before I explain that, consider that every key thing we do in life, we do for a reason, everything has a purpose. Why did we get into a relationship with someone, why we get married, why we choose to have children or not. The same goes for our career path, our friends, our chosen hobbies or activities that we choose. It may have been the footy match we went to for the first time, a holiday to a new place, the shopping trip we went on with friends. All of these are choices we have made and create some type of memory. Hopefully they are good ones. In business you may say your purpose is to make money, however making money is the result of doing something well. It may be to give yourself a job or an opportunity at a different lifestyle. Everything we do in life creates memories, some good, some not so good. Some are instantly forgotten and some are remembered forever. The nature of the event and the meaning you give to it determines where it sits in our history. To magnify the power of the memories whatever you do, endeavor to do your best every day, During our interview what become clearly apparent is that I continue to DJ because I like to be part of making memories. It is not about the money, it is about the experience, and my goal at every function is to send people home with memories of a great night. Anyone can play songs, however not everyone knows what to play, when and where to fit it. Most nights are magical though on the big nights the floor really pumps, I get excited, and what I am doing is making memories for those in attendance. At a great wedding or a function people wake up the next day (maybe with a headache) with a memory of how much fun was had. All of those in attendance, both working or guests are what creates that power of that memory, You may have had a great lunch last Monday week. though I doubt you can tell me what you had. What I am really alluding to in this OPW, is no matter what you do in life, no matter how you feel at the time, do it well. Great days at work can be remembered especially if you are surrounded by good people. Make sure you are one of those people because life will have many high points and the occasional low one. Make sure the good memories far outweigh the bad ones by choosing to make the most out of every situation. As we grow we do many things and connect with many people, or situations which have an impact of how we experience the world. These experiences shape our world and how those around us view us. Putting a good light on all that happens is what is required for you to be making memories that will be timeless and ones you can recall in an instant. These are the ones that make you smile and transport you to a place of magical wonder. If you have bad memories, dont let them control your life, flood them with thoughts of the good times and watch them diminish. You may find that your life enriches in the process. If and when the time comes for NightSound to finish up, Id like to remembered, not as a DJ but a Memory Maker and that is the legacy I leave. How about you What are you doing to make memories because that should be your purpose in life, to enrich the lives of those around you by your presence. Have a great week Rodney Tattam 8th June 2014
