One and a half years back, I boarded an overcrowded bus at Ruby, - TopicsExpress

One and a half years back, I boarded an overcrowded bus at Ruby, which goes directly to my home. Half an hour of barely hanging on to the rod and dear life, I reached halfway at Ultadanga and just handed over 10 rupees to the conductor ( Rs. 8 was the fare ) and immediately the bus had an engine failure and the conductor went to attend to the bus with my change and all :P I felt hard done by as I had to board another over crowded bus and paid another seven rupees on the way home cursing my luck. What are the odds of the bus breaking down at the moment I handed over the fare. Shit. Today, i boarded a bus from South City, a direct one again, and when I handed eleven rupees to the conductor, he immediately returned it, saying that the bus is likely to break down due to an engine problem, its better you buy the ticket when you reach Baguihati ( the penultimate stop ). I was really taken aback at his actions. What sort of a person was he? Isnt it his business to take the fare? No questions asked? And as luck would have it, one and a half years on, the bus had an engine failure, EXACTLY at Ultadanga. I offered the conductor the fare till there and he refused, leaving me with a smile Im still carrying now. This is a story which I just had to share. Humanity exists. My faith in it is certainly restored. The cycle of life goes on, bad days are just an investment for good days to come. Cheers! :D
