One can not attract quality and meaningful investment into a place - TopicsExpress

One can not attract quality and meaningful investment into a place unless certain basic amenities like power, road network, infrastructure are put in place. Bayelsa state has been nothing short of an all-time consuming state hence the cost of goods and services is steadily on the raise- also there is no proper regulatory mechanism in place. The state since creation has continued to depend wholly on neighboring states to service its needs- even basic necessities like sachet water, poultry products, meat, bakery products etc are not produced in the state. Commendably, the hospitality business in the state has been expanding- opening up tourism potentials. But that in itself is not enough; hence government is trying to diversify the state economy through the various investment forums and campaign. But has government done enough? Are the right amenities available on ground to lure manufacturing and/or production companies put root in the state? Are there no other investments viable in the state aside hotelier? Every year the educational system of Bayelsa state is pushing out graduates with little or no direction, or plan to absorb them. Without other forms of employment of labour, government alone can not employ its teeming graduate population. What is your take on this?
