One day I visited someone who had stopped coming to church. Before - TopicsExpress

One day I visited someone who had stopped coming to church. Before I even sat down the person said, “You must have wondered why I stopped coming to church. I am dealing with some deep personal and spiritual issues that I need to resolve first before I come back to church. I need to put my life together first then I can come to church with a clear conscience.” Sadly there are many Christians who have been deceived to believe that they need to clean up their own lives first before they come to Christ. Church is a hospital for the spiritually sick and Jesus is our Great Physician. Everyone, from the preacher on the pulpit to the parishioner on the pew, needs help with personal and spiritual issues. Scripture says, “There is none righteous, no, not one.” Romans 3:10. Jesus said, It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. Mark 2:17. We go to church for a weekly spiritual checkup and for a weekly dose of the life-giving Word of God; the medicine of the soul. Paul says, “let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people are in the habit of doing, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25. This weekend gather the courage pick your broken pieces and go to church or take someone to church. Don’t let anything or anyone keep you from attending church. Jesus says, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28. Jesus is calling. Will you respond? – Isaac Kubvoruno
