One day as I was walking I passed by an abandoned building I saw a woman who was sifting through the garbage along with her five children I always thought I had problems that were as big as a skyscraper Until I saw this woman frantically searching for food and instead of using a blanket, she and her children shared a newspaper As I looked down at each child’s face they all appeared to be really sad So instead of buying lunch that day, I reached down into my pocket and gave her everything that I had She gave me a big hug, smiled, and said “God Bless You” I walked away with a smile as well, knowing that I just did what was in my heart; helping was the right thing to do As fate would have it, later that night when I returned home I noticed that I had been robbed Then as if my life couldn’t possibly get any worse, the next day, my boss informed me that I would have to start searching for another job I was so sad that I found myself severely depressed I even started losing a substantial amount of weight because I was so stressed By the end of the month I had used up all of my life savings down to my last cent I did not have a dime to my name so I ended up selling my car just to pay rent I was so drowned in depression that I contemplated ending my life It was not as if I had any kids to think about nor did I have a wife I decided to go for a long walk to think about the best way to commit suicide I ran into the homeless woman with the five children who immediately ran up to me and handed me a plastic bag with a card inside I read the card and inside she had her kids sign it and she said “Thank You” She broke down into tears telling me that I had no idea what her and her kids had been through She told me that she had used the money I had given to her to buy her kids some food and she used a few dollars to buy a lottery ticket---she surprisingly won She said that she had won enough money to now not only buy a house, but now she’s in the position to take care of her four daughters and her one son I opened up the card and there was a check for a million dollars that she said would help me get back onto my feet Then she said that not all angels have wings, there are some angels walking among us, and even some angels sleeping on the street
