One day, in the remote future, when I am brave enough, smart - TopicsExpress

One day, in the remote future, when I am brave enough, smart enough, and foolish enough... Ill bend some rules and Ill get in trouble on an Easter Sunday. Like an untrained fool, I will read Amos 5:21 from the Hebrew Bible and Ill preach a sermon asking what if... what if we, for a second, imagined serving a God that actually despised some of our Easter celebrations? What if God desired something different in our services and expressions? Something else? Something that we couldnt quite commercialize and Instagram... something that even I fully take part in, as well. And dont get me wrong, I love my tradition. I love my grandmothers rituals. But what if we forgot something along the way? or lost something embedded inside those traditions that made them more than a tradition? more than a photo? more than a yearly cliche? What if Jesus empty tomb meant more than the defeat of death?
