One day when I was a junior in high school I was sitting at home listening to the radio. My mom walked by and said, The music you kids listen to today is nonsensical and silly. Music was much better when I was a kid. At that point I sang to her Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy. A kid will eat ivy too wouldnt you? She then stood stone faced staring at me for what felt like ten minutes. She then said Youve made your point. Then turned and walked away. She never again made a disparaging remark about the music I listened to.
