One early evening, as my niece, Nikki, came home from her days - TopicsExpress

One early evening, as my niece, Nikki, came home from her days work, she announced that she was bringing a surprise. She dipped into her handbag and viola! I saw a teeny weenie brown thing. Indeed a surprise because I am a not a fan of stuffed toys. This thing must have read my mind when she suddenly let out a yelp maybe to prove that she is a living creature! She turned out to be a Shih tzu of the princess breed. She looked so little and helpless that she touched my heart. The following weekend, we brought her to the vet for a regular check up. Luckily, she was found to be just fine. As days went by, she became so playful, lively, lovable and full of energy. One cant help but love her! Then one morning, we missed her greetings of wagging tail and rubbing her warm body to us. She was just lying around and not her usual self. So a quick trip to the Vet. Sadly, we were told that she contacted parvovirus and had a 50/50 chance of survival. She was immediately connected to the IV and continued the treatment for 3 days. When Nikki went to see her, she wagged her tail as a sign or recognition so we were hopeful of her recovery. It goes without saying that we prayed that shell make it. Despite the Vets warning of a possible repercussion, we checked her out of the hospital late afternoon on the 4th day. A week later, she was sent for her regular check up. On seeing her, the Vet surprisingly exclaimed wow, joeys alive!. On St Francis Day, we brought her to the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart where a blessing of the animals was held. This NICE SURVIVOR made an eventful scene during the blessing when she dared to go up where the officiating priest was conducting the ceremony, tugging the hem of his sotana, inviting the priest to comment that this naughty doggie could have plans to enter the religious life. (See photo). Isnt that cute? Today, shes back to her lovable self and has gained weight (Thank you Pedigree).@PetExpressPH#pawsomexmas
