One for Smaller People :-) The Cleaners Theres an hour that nobodys heard of At a quarter past two and a third When your ears go pop And the clocks all stop And a rustling sound can be heard Then from out behind bushes and hedges And as quick as a blink of the eyes From old flower pots And shadowy spots The cleaners awake and arise Theyre the ultimate cleaning collective And theres never a charge or a fee They re-paint the trees While they catalogue bees And theyre all over seventy-three Theyre the ones who untangle the cobwebs Alphabetically shuffle the sheep They line up the flies In order of size Without interrupting their sleep They dust off the leaves and the branches Then they shampoo and blow-dry the lawn Though they have a dislike For the prickle and spike And the bramble and thistle and thorn They roll up and tidy the hedgehogs Having spruced up the conifer boughs Theres a special device For drycleaning the mice And a chamois for polishing cows When their work is completed and finished And the sky is a dark shade of blue Once the clouds have been fluffed And the sunrise is stuffed And the garden is sprinkled with dew They shuffle off home in their slippers With the promise of biscuits and teas And thats where they stay For just less than a day Under bushes and hedges and trees
