One former Mormons valid and cutting words to the Mormon church about the their recent essay on polygamy/polyandry-couldnt have said it better myself: Dear Mormon Church, Lets make something crystal clear right now. It wasnt legal for a MARRIED MAN to marry a 14 year old child in the 1840s when Joseph Smith married multiple child brides, and it wasnt legal for a MARRIED MAN to marry a 56 year old woman in the 1840s when Smith married his 33rd wife. Sure, its nice to see LDS, Inc. finally admitting as FACT the things that many former members of your church have been shouting from the rooftops for ages but lets not sugarcoat those facts now. Your founders were lying, hypocritical, criminals who denied the crimes they were committing and excommunicated any members who spoke out about their crimes as they continued to commit them. Its cute that you say in your most recent essay that many of Joseph Smiths wives were between 20 and 40 years of age but fail to mention that at least TEN of his wives were teenagers. Thanks for admitting today that your founder, Joseph Smith, married 14 year olds AND other mens wives and even admitting that he didnt tell his first wife, Emma, about many of his ILLEGAL bigamist marriages and that his habit of screwing little girls and other mens wives was an excruciating ordeal for his first (and only legal) wife, Emma. As Captain Obvious would say, No shit. Sincerely, Mike Norton P.S. When your followers say that former members of your church, can leave the church but cant leave it alone they really mean, they discover the truth and wont keep their mouths shut.
