One guy asked me this question. Is not God the state and therefore one should vote for whoever is in charge of the state. My reply God represents righteousness, justice, truth, honesty, sincerity, dedication to the service of humanity, hence cannot support corruption, lies, deception, stealing, fraud, and lack of service to mankind, abuse of resources and money. God does not support veiled threats. God is not the devil. God and the devil stand on opposite ends. Why did Rama an incarnate of Lord Vishnu come to earth. Why did Hanuman stand by Rama, Hanuman being the 11th Avatar of Lord Shiva. Was it not to get rid of the evil King Ravana who was reigning terror on the people with his rule. Why did Krishna come to earth? Was it not to conquer his evil uncle who was reigning terror with his rule. Krishna helped Arjuna to win the battle of Kurukshetra who had the fear of getting into battle. The entire story is about conquering evil. When we pray to God, we must know why we pray. We cannot support a corrupt state and a corrupt government. God is on the sideness of goodness and he gives you the strength to fight what is evil.
