Time nd again speakers in d Northern House voiced their deep conviction that the North was for Northerners nd that d Southernrs should go home(most of these Southnrs were from d East). Sporadic violence against Eastnrs had occurred in d past,notably during d bloody Jos Riots of 1945 and very regretably the pogroms of 1966 in d north that became d chief catalyst for d Nigerian Civil War. A dose of reality check for my misguided freinds; d Nigeria of today is nothing near the colonial one. One could ask, of what major economic importance is the North to d Nigerian union today? I remain a strong protagonist of the mantra One Nigeria but i strongly advice that we should always look b4 we leap, for the child who is at comfort in d cradle of d mothers back does not realize tht d journy is a long nd a tedious one.
