One hundred years ago today, two groups of soldiers, British and German, decided they werent the enemies their king, emperor, and governments told them they had to be. The now famous Christmas Day truce of 1914 broke out. I had the idea to do this video about a year ago - I got around to doing it this week. The song is a modern tune - All Together Now - by a Liverpool band called The Farm (from 1991 anyway) and it commerates the mutual action of friendship by both sides. This trivial effort is for my great-grandad who woke up in the mortuary tent at Paschendale, for my other great-grandad who was less fortunate and fell at the Somme and for my friends around the world who had relatives fight in the Great War - no matter what side. Because of them we get to drink, play this great little drum, slag each other and worry about the petty stuff in life. We are so lucky, we have no idea. I fudge the last bit of the tune, but thats not really the point. Merry Christmas everyone.
