One in five Romanian urban owns a bicycle,while the number of two-wheeled vehicles is higher in rural areas where 35 % of the population has at least one such product.The situation is opposite in a car,43% of city dwellers have such a vehicle,while the degree of ownership in rural areas is 32 %,according to GfK Cars & Drivers conducted by market research. In 2012,the latest year for which data are available,in Romania were sold 380,000 bicycles,compared to only 70,000 new cars.However,on average Romanian spends 120 euros on a bicycle to thousands or tens of thousands on a machine. As there are many automotive enthusiasts,bikes are gaining more ground moving among those who want to live a healthy lifestyle or sports enthusiasts more or less extreme,says Julia Cornigeanu,senior consultant GfK Romania.Study market research company shows,however, that there is one in ten Romanian holding both bike and car,while only 2% of the population owns a bike and a scooter .
