One is electoral party while the other is a revolutionary party. An electoral party considers democracy as a means to reaching the corridors of power -- an end in itself, while a revolutionary party considers democracy (in whichever form it might be) as a facilitator to its bigger goal: revolution/freedom. In undivided India, the combined freedom struggle did not struggle to push occupier Britishers to introduce democracy; they struggled for freedom while using democracy as a means to obtain it. The Congress did get opportunity to partake general elections, win them and form govt at the center and in many states, but they did not stop there; they relentlessly continued their movement towards achieving their biggest stated goal: freedom. If PkMAP has been making sacrifices for democracy in Pakistan, it is not because we consider it our ultimate goal; we actually defend democracy because people in this system are politically and financially empowered; they get chance to elect their representatives, and because Party can freely and easily reach to the masses and spread its message to the people. If democracy is derailed, we must condemn it. But it does not and should not prevent our march towards our ultimate aim: freedom and welfare.via Ghani Dotani.
