One issue we seem to have ignored on this Ebola - TopicsExpress

One issue we seem to have ignored on this Ebola episode.................,is the story of the CONFIRMED SURVIVORS. Has anyone chronicled accounts of how they were infected, treated and recovered from the disease? Does their survival have anything to do with standard of health-care, a possible miracle or some form of innate immunity? Considering the fact that Standard of care will be about the same even for those who died (Sierra Leonne, Liberia and Nigeria), and the fact that a miracle for 10% of sufferers will be UNPRECEDENTED (even compared to biblical times), it might be worth the while looking into the genetic make-up of these unique individuals. It was by studying infected members, and survivors of Cow Pox that Edward Jenner invented the Worlds first Vaccine in the 18th century. On Another Note: This goes to show that the Law of Natural Selection is indeed a living law in Biology. Those who were not equipped to combat the disease were wiped off, and those who survived will pass the genes, preparing future generations for future outbreaks. Its simply survival of the fittest. The only break to this law.........,is the capacity for the human brain to think, that is why people who would otherwise have died from diseases that would wipe out millions, live long lives thanks to vaccines and medications. Anyway........,back to the ebola survivors.........
