One lane - and sometimes both - on Main in Dickson is closed from the Blakely anchor (call it the Olyphant Anchor or whatever youd like, but it was pulled from the USS Wasp, in honor of Captain Blakely) to Dundaff Street, and has been since last evening, for paving work. Yet, some of the areas brighter individuals seem to think that itll be possible to cut down Miles Ave - a half-block from where the paving begins - and somehow will be able to get through because theyve bypassed the flagman. Only to find out that, once they get down there, no, theyre not just paving a 75-foot section of the road (this time), and wind up turning around, pissed off, and flying up our street and getting pissed at one-another for doing the same. As I typed this, I counted thirty-four cars driving on our street, not a one of which did so at or under the speed limit, until they gridlocked the road. The only ones Ive seen go down and turn around so far this morning that I can excuse are the delivery trucks, because they dont have the choice about which streets they have to go down to get their jobs done. These same folks would be up in arms if someone blew through their neighborhood at 40+ MPH, and - while I must make the disclaimer that, despite how I may have just presented myself, I am not personally a radar device - I am certain that is a major understatement, particularly with the idiots on the crotch rockets. Wish the construction company had remembered to put the road closed sign at the top of our block like the last company did. At least then, only about a quarter of the illiterate apes behind the steering wheel ignored and bypassed the sign, being later forced to turn back.
