One last exciting update from the SUSS Jenolan weeklong following - TopicsExpress

One last exciting update from the SUSS Jenolan weeklong following two days of diving in Ice Pick Lake, Mammoth Cave, with Adam Hooper. On Monday we spent almost an hour trying our very best to get up a promising climb in a dry chamber. We werent successful that trip, but we have not given up yet and plan to return with some additional climbing aids (including a slingshot!). I hope this will open up into significant dry cave up above!! Yesterday we returned and pushed a newly opened underwater side lead which Rod Obrien and I believe will be the main way on in the cave. This dive involved some unglamorous contorting through a disgusting bit of gagged tight rift, but we persisted and found our way through breaking into a large open chamber with multiple promising options for continuation! We are now deep in the hill and far from any known dry cave, so fingers crossed we will soon surface into those kilometers of dry cave passage we dream about at night ;) As always, a huge thank you to everyone that helped lug gear in and out including Jack, Denis, Maddie, Mark and Mitchell, John Oxley, Ric, Janine, Ana, and Andy.
