One last point about the Kroger attack and (somewhat blatant) racism: It seems most of the angry comments on the news page and FB responses were a mix of these two statements: 1) The news would have been reported so differently if the gang of kids was white and attacking a black person (which seems to assert that the media is playing this off as no big deal, but white kids would somehow get in MORE trouble, which is absurd), and 2) This all would have been solved if the white kid [being attacked] had a gun. My retort is this: If it in fact HAD been a group of white kids that attacked a black kid, I cant say that the media would approach it too differently- theyre definitely trying to hunt these attackers down. However, I am quite sure that NONE of these same people would be arguing that the solution to that particular scenario would be to give the black kid [being attacked here] a gun. #dropsthemic #realtalk #racistrealitycheck
