One last thought on the matter of Cliven Bundy and the unkindly - TopicsExpress

One last thought on the matter of Cliven Bundy and the unkindly edited videos of his comments on race and other matters.... Just for the record.... The guys an inarticulate rancher. He didnt go to school to be a television talking head, a politician or a press secretary. He raises cattle. Hes not my favorite guy, and hes certainly a lot clumsier on camera than would be optimal for the freedom agenda at this particular moment in time... But when you ask the question which side is the right side - the answer has to be the ranchers side. The federal government is grabbing land. Im from the midwest, where you can raise cattle on a fraction of the land that you need in Nevada or Arizona. If it takes half a state to feed a cow, you SHOULD do something more rational with the land. I think the place to raise cattle is Wisconsin, not a desert. But its none of the federal governments business. Too many people say its okay because the state allowed the BLM to take it over 20 years ago. But damn it, just because his state was stupid enough to get rolled by the feds, that doesnt make it right. The argument that its all okay because the state was willing to let the feds take over, and they just naiively didnt realize at the time that the feds would drive off all the ranchers in order to work a slimy energy deal between Harry Reids son and the ChiComs... is rather like saying that if a girl lets a guy buy her drinks until shes ready to pass out, and then he takes her back to his room and rapes her, she has no grounds for complaining because, after all, she let him buy drinks. Foolishness, naivite, and bad judgment in general should all be avoided. Of course. But the feds - doing unconstitutional things, exceeding their authority and consciously trying to destroy private businesses, IS STILL ALWAYS WRONG. John F. Di Leo
