One last thought tonight... I met with teachers this afternoon who care deeply for their students... they care so much, that they feel often times helpless in their calling ... a vocation of service... and once again, I am AWED... by what it must feel like to teach in todays world... so many children are walking in , even at 6 years old... angry, emotionally and physically exhausted, and scattered...every student and teacher is doing his or best in the moment... and our politicians and educational reformers are so far removed from the realities of the day to day celebrations ( for there are many!!) , hardships, moment to moment movements that we know we must notice, becuase those students who ares shut down or aggressive are communicating to us , Will you still be there? My goal this summer is to plan a retreat for educators!!! ... first call of duty... self-care!!! Cheers to all educators for all you are doing in this time when our world is beautifully complex populous and communicating in ways that often times leaves us feeling so utterly disconnected!!
